Custom Cat-Eyes handcrafted for Rosalind in ‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’
There was no sorcery nor devilish incantation required for Netflix to find the perfect custom eyewear for their hit 2018 series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, they just needed a little MOSH magic!
Local eyewear designer, Sara Moshurchak, is quickly becoming the go-to name for Vancouver-based film and TV production, with her hand-crafted designs showing up everywhere from Deadpool 2 to another Netflix favourite, A Series of Unfortunate Events. Productions have come to know that Sara can conjure up just about any eyewear your coven might be craving.
For the team at Sabrina, the challenge was finding just the right version of a vintage frame for actress, Jaz Sinclair, who plays Sabrina’s best friend, Rosalind Walker.
“They had a very small, vintage pair of eyeglasses that they found in a second hand shop as their inspiration but needed them in a bigger size and different colour while still maintaining the original character,” said Sara.
Armed with some photographs of the actress and the design reference from the Artistic Director and the Props Department, Sara crafted the unique frame from scratch… with a little toil, minimal trouble and just a touch of eye of newt thrown in for good measure.
Salem doesn’t have to be the only one looking good in Cat-Eyes!
