Be The Bold: Eyewear Trends of Spring/Summer 2023

Want to update your look? The beauty of eyewear is the fact that it occupies two realms – medical equipment and fashion accessory. If you must wear glasses, might as well make a statement! This year fashion trends are embracing the unique, the artistic, the bold, and the loud. If you’re interested in keeping up with eyewear trends – check out this trend report for 2023.

Oversized and Chunky:

We are seeing oversized acetate eyeglass frames everywhere in fashion. Chunky frames and bold colours are reminiscent of hard candy, soda bottles, and warmer days. Use these to brighten up a cooler winter wardrobe for that wow factor. We are also seeing these kinds of frames paired with a dark tint to use as sunglasses and wearing bright neon colours for an unapologetic celebration of colour.

For another take – do you have any of your old 70’s frames kicking around in your attic? Because the oversized warm brown and tortoise frames of that era are 100% back. Check out this style:

Fresh Takes on the Classic Cat Eye

The cat eye is a classic eyeglass shape – fun, feminine, with a vintage sparkle. We are seeing a lot of fresh takes on the cat eye that embrace angularity and bolder geometric shapes. Seeing this trend revamped gives us so many ideas of how to shake up a classic look without going in an entirely different direction.

Avant Garde + Geometric Shapes:

Some of us are tired of the same shapes over and over again – and fashion trends are embracing the unique, the bespoke, and the odd. We have seen more experimental shapes rocking runways for a while now but this year they are creeping more and more into ready-to-wear collections. People are embracing unique frames that speak to their personality.

Fashion Tints

Ever heard what they say about rose-coloured glasses? Well, it’s true – it’s really such a joy to go through life with a colourful hue. Fashion tints are really buzzing this year and we are so excited to see it. Pinks and reds are the obvious colours, but we are really seeing tints in all colours.

Some people will pick the same colour as their frame for a cohesive wash of colour and others will pick a contrasting colour for that real edgy look – either way people will be stopping you in the street and saying, “Where did you get your glasses?” And isn’t that the point of having great glasses?
